Create Art From Your Vacation Photos…
Apr 9th, 2010 | By Ron Plante | Category: Special InterestMaterials you’ll need to create art from your vacation photos.
You will need: Your favorite watercolor stuff
A printout of the picture that you’re going to use as reference (grayscale or color)
A. Drawing and tracing stuff
HB and 2B graphite or charcoal pencils (optional graphite bar or carpenter’s pencil)
Kneaded eraser
B. Paper, Good grade watercolor paper, cold press or hot press (Not sure? Try them out)
available in sheets or “blocks” (pads). Tracing paper or plain white bond or copier paper
Watercolor paints
C. Inexpensive department or craft store kit with little dried up cakes of watercolor
(works fine, if you’re just starting out)
D. or assorted tubes of watercolors in basic colors.
E. Sponges (I prefer natural)
F. Soft hair brushes
(camel, sable, squirrel, varmint, just not the pig bristles brushes they are for thick paints)
G. Mixing area or palette (I use a styrofoam egg carton or clam shell)
H. Water bowls small for clean colors and large to rinse out or clean the brushes
Misc. Paper towels, masking tape, single edged razor blade for texturing or scratching out paint, drawing board, cup of coffee, elbow room, drop cloth or towels or newspapers and be sure to play appropriate tunes while you’re working. In this case, I could’ve downloaded some Asian jungle sound effects or anything that puts you in the mood. Remember, if you’re a rookie, buy student grade stuff for now. You can always upgrade your materials if you discover that you like it.
